Wednesday night and Imi slept over at mine. Thursday morning, or midday..we finally got up and tried on 38 outfit combinations out of our mutual clothing items.
Here are 2 of them:

- Grey t shirt
- Floral rose knit jersey pocket skirt (Urban Outfitters)

- Floral dresses used as tops (Jack Wills)
- Denim shorts. One light wash (Levi's) and the other regular medium/slightly destroyed shorts (H&M)

I've never been to Alaska,
But I can tell you this,
I've been to Lincoln Nebraska,
And hell you know it ain't worth shit.

Cause I'm comin' home,
I'm comin' home,
I'm comin' home,
I'm comin' home,
I'm comin' home,
I'm comin' home,
Comin' home.

I first listened to one of Dallas Green's songs months back, but a few weeks ago I decided to listen to some of his others...this is probably my favourite. Ok, this and 'The Girl'
I listened to this non-stop on the plane home. Oh, how cliché!

I've already pretty much acquired by 'A/W wardrobe' with things such as jumpers, hoodie dresses and knit tops, along with some cute, simple tops I can layer up when it gets colder.
I won't talk about them in this post, but I'm going to show you some of my favourite 'street style' pictures I've found for Autumn/Winter!

Mixing hot with cold
Along with many people, I've never been a huge fan of the mixing hot with cold combo, ie; shorts with tights. I'd always thought shorts are for summer. However, from being on Lookbook a little while now, and from looking at some people wear this combo nicely and with class, I've learned to realise that it doesn't always look bad. So, here are some people I think have made this combo work really well!

Frida Gustavsson
-Frida, I think has really made this combo look the best with her old looking denim shorts (worn high waisted) & black opaque tights (which both are generally pretty summery) but by getting the balance right on top with a jacket and simple blouse.

Lily Donaldson
-Lily's worn this combo pretty much the same way as Frida (black opaque tights, simple shoes, blouse and jacket), however she's replace the denim shorts with printed shorts.
If you wear the denim shorts (or other plain shorts with no print such as plain grey or khaki..or any block colour), you can perhaps go for a print on top, and if you wear the printed shorts, I'd suggest going for something plain on top!

I think it's safe to say that the shorts with tights combo actually can look lovely. Of course, it does depend on the person and how they wear it..but overall, it can work!

Of course there is still absolutely nothing wrong with simple; just chucking on a pair of skinny jeans and some boots (ankle boots..or flats..even converse!) and then just throwing a coat on over, as I found in a street style picture of Siri!

Siri Tollerod

Hm...leggings and tights..
Ok I've also been one who really dislikes leggings or tights used as a substitute for trousers. However, if, and only if, the top is longggg...then I'll admit it can look nice.
I've not found many people who've made this look great, but I think Shelley Mulshine has done this pretty well.

Now, I'm not sure who this is, so if anyone knows her name please tell me so as I can credit her..but again, I think she can pull off this whole 'long top + leggings' look.
However, for Autumn and Winter I would, obviously put a jacket on over the top!

I may continue to update this post throughout Autumn and Winter, if I come across any more looks I like.

I've been in Dubai for almost a week now, and haven't taken that many pictures actually, mainly because my camera's so heavy and truthfully I've been too lazy to lug it around with me. However, this evening when I made my way through the mall to get to the food court (which I was very excited about, I'd been starving all day considering it's Ramadan here...meaning no food from sunrise to sunset!) I decided to take my camera with me and take some pictures along the way.

Oh, and I apologise for the less-than-amazing-quality pictures, I didn't have much time to stop and focus the camera for good pictures, most were taken whilst walking! :)
(click pictures to enlarge)

entrance to Dubai Mall .. so the majority of the following pictures are going to be of the mall!

The virtual maps in the Dubai Mall, which are absolutely needed!

ok so I know this is kind of irrelevant, but look how pretty the Ralph Lauren Children's store is!

Ok so I've finished with the mall pictures, here is the bridge going over to the mall, which is adjacent to the Burj it's always absolutely crammed with people standing smiling, whilst their friends take pictures of them in front of it!

Burj Khalifa! It's very beautiful, built in just 4 years..and I hear it's still not finished!

Dubai lake, by the mall, and the Burj Khalifa. Every half hour, the lake fountain show starts, dancing water shoots up from the lake in colours, to music.

The Palace, Dubai which is where I'm at, at the moment. I'm annoyed, because this could've been a really lovely picture but my lens got too foggy with condensation! :( this picture makes me feel reeeeally tiny. I was on the bridge, looking up at the Burj Khalifa ^_^

wow these took a longggg time to upload!

I'd seen many people do this with their jersey pocket American Apparel skirts..and well, I wanted to try it out quickly with my same-style-as-the-american-apparel-one-skirt which has a really pretty, vibrant floral/rose print.
I wore it to the pool with shorts, and it was really practical for taking on and off and once tucked into the looked OK! ^_^

So I've now arrived...actually I arrived on Sunday so I've been here a while, but I've not had the time to update. It's tooooo hot at the moment, about 40-45' during the day and sometimes the evenings, so I've spent a lot of time around the pool and in the Dubai Mall, where there are some great sales such as 50% off Marc By Marc Jacobs Spring Summer 2010 collection, and Zara has clothes for £4! Anyway, here are some pictures for the time being until I can post some more ^_^

so I spend a lot of the day by the pool, which is nice and cool, because
otherwise it's just too humid. I'm in the middle of the city in a little oasis, you can see a bit of Burj Khalifa between the palm trees in #2! :)

my head .. in the water ^_^

in the Dubai Aquarium walk-through

Burk Khalifa at day, seen from the car - World's tallest building!
It's even more amazing though at night, when the whole city's lit up, I'll try and post some pictures

The new collection is out, and I really like it. A lot of the pieces seem very 70's, and the trench coats are very Burberry-esque! I absolutely LOVE the Spring/Summer 2010 collection, and I think this lives up to it, well...almost ^_^

My favourite pieces from the new A/W collection are...

such a cute t shirt

pretty shoes

hm, I just thought this blazer would be a nice simple jacket for autumn

I adore the colours in this, very autumny

ok, just another 2.5 style bag, but it looks very nice!

with this I'd take away the belt and wear as a t shirt dress

oh how adorable is this!

I love the print on the wintery take on a playsuit, it could
look lovely with tights, a thick cardigan and ankle boots!

so the collection has a lot of denim, in particular very 70's denim,
ie; very blue! reminded me of old Levi's shorts. very nice!

Over the past two days, I've been shopping with two of my friends, Chloe and Paul, to do some last minute holiday shopping! I've found some lovely things, including a notebook, bando, earrings, tester version of Lush 'Vanillary' perfume, leggings which I so desperately needed considering my other pair had laddered up the whole leg, and some gorgeous grey/acid wash brogues, oh and lots of summer sales ^_^

Notebook (which I'll use as a journal) from Acccessorize - £7
Bando from Accessorize - in sale, £5 reduced from £10
Earrings from Accessorize - £4
Leggings from Accessorize - £4
Mini tester 'Vanillary' perfume from Lush - £1
Brogues from River Island - in sale, £6 reduced from £28!

Oh this notebook is soooo pretty! Accessorize
also has other matching stationary items

This bando was half price, and is navy with a floral print,
that ties round your head with a bow. I guess you could
use it for other things too ^_^

I had been wanting some brogue shoes for a long while now,
and in River Island I found some gorgeous leather ones which
were £28, so instead I got these ones; grey/acid wash brogues
which go with almost everything and were only £6, reduced from £28!
So I'm hoping that the leather ones will eventually go down in price

My friend Imi had got these in pink, and they're
also available in navy/white polka dot and green,
but I chose these ones. There are also matching
pendants in the same line ^_^

So I've been meaning to get a blog for a long time now, and I made one....but then I never used it. So now I've finally got one and will try to update it as often as I can :)
